New home business
Why should you consider, at least when you start, working from home?
There will be some trades and businesses that should be conducted from specialist premises. If you need a workshop, garage, kitchen or secure area then working from home may well not be an option as your company grows.
Please remember though, that overheads often kill off new businesses. If at all possible, aim to start working from home as you test the market and build up a client base.
The hassle of loosing the use of a room and/or garage for a while is surely preferable to finding out that your new premises are too big (or, just as bad, too small).
For those of us who can, working at home can often be the best solution. That ten second commute in the morning is pretty nifty, and the overheads are a pittance!
Always remember the golden rule, You are in business to make money, not spend it!!!
How did I build my home-based businesses?
All my four companies have made it to the top three percent, in that they are all still happily trading after ten years (quite a bit longer in some cases). Sadly, most don't survive that long.
And a large part of that has been my ability to keep costs down wherever possible. There has also been a huge 'time dividend'.
Not only have I saved the time others waste in commuting, but by working at home there is far more flexibility to both take time out, and spend the odd ten minutes or half an hour 'work break' keeping things under control.
